GUARDA were commissioned to produce an illustrative landscape masterplan to accompany a planning application. This consisted of an appraisal of the existing site and the character of the surrounding area, examination of LPA comments. A simple and robust design was then provided to enable the development to comfortably fit within the landscape, creating a harmonious setting and an attractive frontage to the High Street.

The High Street is bordered on both sides by shops, pubs and cafés, fast food outlets, offices, and the Potters Bar bus garage. The landscape scheme aims to improve the environment within the site and provide an improved outlook from the road and surrounding buildings/properties. The setting of the refurbished Grade II Listed building is enhanced and the apartment block to the rear is softened though the landscape treatment. Planting has been located alongside the former pub building to frame and anchor the frontage and in front of the bin store to also provide a green outlook from the road.
