SCOTSDALES GARDEN CENTRE, FORDHAM
Landscape Cost: Approx. £400k
RIBA Work Stage: 4
GUARDA were commisioned by HILL to produce a package of landscape softworks and hardworks drawings for reserved matters for Phase 1. This included 97 residential dwellings and a local shop, along with public open space and associated infrastructure works.
The site was on the edge of the village and so a transitional landscape design was created which provided a natural and low-key setting for the development with feature planting at the entrance and along the main driveway. Existing trees were retained where possible to provide instant maturity, including a line of poplars along the western boundary and a small copse of trees with the public open space. Close liaison with the engineer was necessary to ensure that the SuDs scheme fitted seemlessly within the landscape and provided some amenity value.
Approval was granted.
